Analysis Lab at GORD Technohub (GORD Institute) is a shared core facility dedicated to advanced materials characterization. The laboratory is equipped with essential analytical instruments, including an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF), isothermal calorimeter, differential scanning calorimeter–thermogravimetric analyser (DSC/TGA), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), tabletop scanning electron microscope (SEM), and particle size analysers. This facility supports multidisciplinary analysis of nanomaterials.

The Synthesis Laboratory at Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), is a multifunctional workspace supporting the development and processing of sustainable materials. While currently focused on the synthesis of nesquehonite, the lab is broadly equipped for a wide range of material preparation workflows.

It enables complete process control from solution-based reactions and chemical monitoring to filtration, drying, thermal activation, storage, and shaping of final products.

The Mechanical Testing Lab (MTL) at Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD) is a purpose-built lab designed for the preparation, curing and testing of compressive and flexural strength of samples as per ASTM or BS-EN standards.

The primary focus is cement and mortar samples, but other construction materials can and have been investigated as required. Additionally, the lab features a heavy-duty ball mill for any large-scale grinding needs, humidity chamber and large water bath.

The Advanced Characterization Lab (ACL) at GORD Institute houses the first of its kind SEM from Thermofischer essential for microstructure analysis on the nanoscale. Additionally, it also contains Emperyean XRD from Malvern Panalytical a powerful X-Ray Diffraction machine capable of running 15 samples without manual intervention.

The Fabrication Lab is a creative and technical space where ideas turn into prototypes. It’s equipped with laser cutters, CNC and 3D machines, soldering and signal processing tools, a robotic arm, and Arduino systems.

The Iberdrola laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including a flexible microgrid setup (can be operated in DC and AC mode), in addition to advanced power system simulation tools and high-performance computing stations for machine learning and parallel simulations.

The lab also hosts power and consumption meters for building energy management system prototypes, as well as advanced communication devices for power line communications.

The ConocoPhillips Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC) is a designated center of excellence for water-related technologies, disseminating findings to the company’s global operations, as well as local government and industry partners. GWSC has a comprehensive program on the characterization, treatment, reuse and disposal of produced water.

From oil and gas production and processing plants with an emphasis on the Middle East region. GWSC team has recently evaluated a novel application of forward osmosis.
