Hosted as part of a focused programme on the role of AI in education, this year’s event explored “The Role of Data Storytelling and Generative AI in Progressive Education.” It brought together policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to examine what responsible AI implementation looks like in practice within Qatar’s education system.

Our president Rama Chakaki joined a panel on EdTech Innovation in Qatar to discuss how the country can move beyond pilots and proof-of-concept projects toward sustained, system-wide adoption. The discussion focused on the structural and governance challenges that sit between innovation and real impact, often described as the “Valley of Death,” and how better alignment across policy, infrastructure, and long-term incentives can help scale effective solutions.

Moderated by Dr. Bernard Jansen, Principal Scientist at QCRI, the session moved beyond AI hype to focus on the practical conditions needed for lasting and equitable progress in public education.
