QSTP recently invited Muna AbuSulayman, one of the Arab world’s most influential personalities and a women empowerment advocate, for an inspiring Fireside Chat on leadership, innovation, and social impact. As a voice among Arab women leaders, Muna shared how Qatar can train local talent to compete on a global scale.

Discover Muna’s inspiring perspectives and key takeaways from the session:

QSTP’s Global Vision
Muna emphasized that Qatar’s global success depends on strong collaboration between universities, research labs, and ministries. She explained that connecting professors, developers, and startups through shared projects will create a pipeline for deep-tech innovation. “It’s about linking talent, research, and opportunity,” she said, noting Qatar’s active work to attract international expertise and build a thriving ecosystem for startups.

Advice for Founders
Muna shared that she once saw herself as a failed entrepreneur, admitting she lost her savings out of fear of accepting funding. From that experience, she offered two key lessons for founders: take funding opportunities when they arise and choose your co-founders wisely. She noted that engineering founders can be past-focused and emphasized choosing partners with trust, flexibility, and shared values.

Perspective on Hustle Culture
Muna compared the relentless 24/7 work culture of Silicon Valley with what she views as a healthier and more balanced approach in the region. “We may not take as many risks,” she added, “but our focus on ethical discussions is what sustains long-term impact.” She believes real innovation requires time for reflection and ethical decision-making, not constant activity.

Source of Inspiration
Muna also spoke about Helen Keller, a resilient woman who lost her sight, hearing, and ability to speak yet unlocked her brilliance with the help of someone who believed in her. For Muna, Keller’s story is a reminder that true potential grows through empathy, mentorship, and encouragement.

By hosting thought leadership events in Doha and entrepreneurship sessions that connect global changemakers, QSTP continues to nurture the next generation of Arab women leaders and innovators shaping the region’s future.
